Burnt Friedman pres. Secret Rhythms

Burnt Friedman brings Secret Rhythms to silent green, a program of rarely to never-heard odd-meter grooves and sequences, arranged live with synthesizer and mixing desk and distributed through the space via a multichannel sound system. 

The starting point is rhythm not as a style or cultural reference, but as physically felt movement. This allows seemingly complex, cyclical patterns to be experienced as natural, harmonious relationships. This rhythmic practice was developed by Can drummer Jaki Liebezeit, with whom Friedman collaborated for 17 years. This provided the foundation for creating a music that leaves cultural idioms behind and opens up a trance-like, expansive sonic space.
