Placid Angles (John Beltran) + Diamin (DJ-Set)
silent green presents
John Beltran
The work of American electronic music composer, producer and DJ John Beltran has spanned over three decades, shaping ambient, techno, Balearic and world-infused soundscapes with a distinct melodic and cinematic sensibility.
His early albums Earth & Nightfall (1995) and Ten Days of Blue (1996) were seminal releases that helped define a more introspective strand of techno, earning international acclaim and licensing placements — including in the cult film Human Traffic and HBO’s Six Feet Under.
Across the late ’90s and early 2000s, Beltran continued to diversify his output, releasing albums such as Americano and Sun Gypsy, which wove in Latin, jazz and organic instrumentation. His affinity for live instrumentation and cross-cultural rhythms became a defining feature, blurring the boundaries between electronica, world music and downtempo.
In the 2010s and beyond, Beltran returned to his ambient and techno foundations with a prolific run of releases including Beautiful Robots, Amazing Things and Espais, alongside later Balearic-leaning works such as Serendipia and the Back To Bahia series. Moreover, he founded the collective Sol Set and the All Good Music label, further exploring Brazilian-inspired jazz dance and tropical electronics.
Under his Placid Angles moniker, Beltran explores a more introspective dimension of his practice, focusing on beatless or gently rhythmic compositions that emphasise texture, space and emotional resonance, drawing on new age, classical and experimental electronic traditions.
Diamin (DJ-Set)
Diamin, born in Chile and based in Berlin, is a DJ, record collector, and environmental scientist with an interest in biology.
Her sets draw from rarely played vinyl discoveries—sourced both from Latin American archives and Europe's most suburban warehouses. Diamin approaches music as something organic and communal: a sort of real-time worldbuilding in which each record is handled with curiosity and care—whether on the dancefloor or on the radio.
It's akin to a springboard that Diamin uses to bounce off in different, adjustable directions: queer-coded new wave acts, highly ambitious IDM, encyclopedic psychedelia, usually topped with acid of the deeper, unforgiving kind. No matter what style, there's room for you to dance and to grow.
She played at venues like Berghain, Bassiani, Tresor, De School, Rex, C12, RSO, among others, and has been featured on platforms such as Boiler Room, NTS Radio, Dekmantel Show x Red Light Radio, Groove Mag, The Ransom Note, Crack Magazine, Inverted Audio, and more. Currently, she is a resident at Mutant Radio and occasionally collaborates with queer collectives like Maricas, PLU, and Lacura.
In addition to her personal project, Diamin co-directs a vinyl label called Tecnologías Elementales, which is set to release its third record this year.
