NoSo

Marginalised and discriminated against all his life because of his skin colour and gender identity, NoSo embraces this pain to create deeply touching, bittersweet music and to give back a little piece of hope to other people through the intimate insight into his personal experiences and feelings.

Since his first songs, a central theme has run through NoSo's music: coming to terms with his own identity. As a queer trans man and Korean-American, Hwong has always moved outside the social norms of the American middle class. The debut EP Parasites (2022) and the acclaimed album Stay Proud of Me (2022) tell of daydreams about a life in which he can finally fully embrace his transmasculine identity. In a kind of musical coming-of-age story, NoSo describes his coming of age – carried by dreamy guitar melodies, infused with quiet melancholy and yet always with a hopeful, almost triumphant note.
