Psychic Liberation Night: Hyunhye Seo & Gerriet K. Sharma + Joachim Nordwall & Nick Klein
silent green presents
Psychic Liberation (PL) is a label founded in 2013, originally run with Miguel Alvariño under the name Primitive Languages as a cassette and record store project in New York City. Since 2019, Nick Klein has operated it solo from the EU under the title Psychic Liberation.
The concert series of the same name takes place with changing guests.
Hyunhye Seo & Gerriet K. Sharma
Hyunhye (Angela) Seo is an artist exploring experimental composition and sound, creating deep turbulent soundscapes through ecstatic piano improvisations, dynamic percussion, and cavernous acoustic treatments. Her live performances are uncompromising in its open and immediate exploration of sounds, pulling from experimental noise, modern classical, avant-garde jazz, and ambient territories.
She has also been writing, recording, producing and performing dozens of works for over a decade as an active member of the musical group Xiu Xiu. From 2013-2020 she founded and operated the Los Angelitos Pie Institute Cafe and in 2022 co-founded the Good Mourning Club.
Gerriet K. Sharma is a composer and sound artist who engages with besieged, endangered, and resistant spaces — and the forces that act upon them — in pursuit of a place of equilibrium: a utopia of balance. His practice is an inquiry into the politics of hearing and listening, aiming to uncover the underlying mechanisms of power and hierarchical structures as they manifest in sound, space, and economic acceleration in the modern capitalist era.
Through the utilisation of advanced loudspeaker environments, beamforming loudspeakers, 3D-audio, and sound sculpting projectors, Sharma seeks to formulate an alternative and open invitation to the listener, sharing an extended ontology of sonic spatial arts by composing sound as space. His practice is rooted in a fascination for the subtle compositional possibilities and the complex relationship between time, space, and body within the framework of a so-called (virtual) reality of the "Now."
Joachim Nordwall & Nick Klein
Joachim Nordwall is based in Gothenburg (Sweden). He has a long background in the Swedish experimental music scene, starting out with recordings with the electronic psych-drone duo Alvars Orkester in 1987.
Nordwall's Soul Music albums show his deep interest in circular rhythms, analogue synth loops and mind expanding experiments. From 1999–2005 he was part of the avant punk rock trio Kid Commando and when that stopped he created the ritual drone rock group The Skull Defekts until 2018. He also plays guitar for noise rock band Orchestra of Constant Distress. Nowadays he is part of the tape and synth trio Organ of Corti.
In 2025 he became part of the contemporary music ensemble The Control Unit performing works inspired by David Tudor (to celebrate Tudor 100). Nordwall also runs iDEAL Recordings since 1998.
Nick Klein is an artist working in sound and art and sometimes (begrudgingly) sound art, with a focus on the social potential of those modalities. Klein has recorded a large amount of music for tape, CD, digital file, and vinyl editions for music labels around the world, as well as running his own label project PL (Primitive Languages, Psychic Liberation, Potentially Listenable).
Klein had operated a monthly radio show on Montez Press Radio since its inception until 2025, amassing a library of over 50 unique interviews with contemporary sonic practitioners. He has also run a monthly programme beginning at the Volksbühne Roter Salon, now hosted at silent green, titled Psychic Liberation Night.
