“..o & Nilgün Özer came into existence from a deeper research into our respective genres. Seemingly distant from each other, both folk and drone music belong to the same family of repetition and heavy presence. Through this collaboration, we explore these genres on a primal level by bringing together voice, Ney flute, drone metal guitar, and electronics. 

Our work is inspired by the idea of a dent. Most of the time, it is not the strength of an object that leaves a dent, but the impact of its contact. A light vase can leave a dent on a marble surface if it falls on a certain angle. We explore this concept in our collaboration by merging elements of our music that can be delicate alone, such as the sound of the Ney flute or the human voice, with grand and sustained sonic masses. The result is dents: moments where sounds transform each other through contact. On a deeper level, this metaphor applies to our understanding of the current climates of the world, one voice can contribute enough to make a change within the strength of a collective. What follows is a series of sonic reactions, where different materials meet and reveal qualities that could not exist on their own.”
