Pop-Up Cinema

Pop-Up Cinema is a programme of events organized by the Stiftung Humboldt Forum im Berliner Schloss in cooperation with Berlinale NATIVe, a special programme of the Berlin International Film Festival, that seeks to revive the tradition of the travelling cinema at unusual locations around Berlin. The programme begins with the film Road, Movie on the 25th of June 2017 at 8:30 pm to coincide with the Days of the Open Construction Site in the foyer of the Berlin Palace, Schlossplatz 5, 10178 Berlin.

The Pop-Up Cinema creates thematic links to the non-European collections from the Ethnologisches Museum and the Museum für Asiatische Kunst der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin in the future Humboldt Forum.

Bringing with them stories and moving images from all over the world, filmmakers and experts will leave behind conventional screening rooms and set up their screens directly in the urban landscape. In their search for new audiences, they seek to entertain, inform and stimulate, prompting new discussions. The programme offers immediate and easy access to cinema from other parts of the world.
