Exploring the intersections of western pop and sounds from the Arab world: This is the musical approach of Tamino, who lives in Antwerp and Amsterdam. The 22-year-old grew up in an artistically gifted family. His grandfather Moharam Fouad made a name for himself as a singer in Egypt, his father is a visual artist, and his mother plays classical piano as a hobby.

His poetic debut single Habibi was his international breakthrough last summer. For the recordings of his debut album, he subsequently teamed up with artists from the Brussels Nagham-Zikrayat collective, an orchestra in which Belgian musicians play together with musicians from Syria, Lebanon and Iraq. The result is the LP titled Amir, twelve songs combining classical indie pop with Arabic quarter notes. A selection of these songs will be presented by Tamino in the Kuppelhalle.

Doors: 6.30pm
Start: 7.30pm
