Paul Hansen, who grew up in 1960s Toulouse as the son of a conservative pastor and a progressive cinema owner, finds himself in a Canadian prison. He had worked as a caretaker in a home for wealthy pensioners for two decades before he was fired and driven to commit a crime. Now he reflects on his childhood. The novel was awarded the Prix Goncourt in 2019. Jean-Paul Dubois will participate remotely.

The conversation will be held in French and will be interpreted consecutively.

The author reads from the original novel in French. The speaker reads from the German translation.
