Poems For Jamiro combine electronics with poetry, violence with fragility, art with closeness and intimacy. Big melodies, atmospheric synth sounds and two voices that sound like one; that's what makes up the sound of the duo that formed in Hamburg in 2014. Since then, Nina and Laila have played numerous concerts in Northern Europe, made guest appearances at the Elbphilharmonie and opened for artists such as Kat Frankie, The Gardener and the Tree and Lina Maly. With their delicate two-part harmony and an irrepressible joy in experimenting with sound, they are always on the lookout for moments that touch. Their songs are inspired by self-felt stories and their own or other people's glimpses beyond the end of their nose; snapshots of a society that is overtaking itself. With their new EP Heart/Beats, due out in spring 2022, Poems For Jamiro break away from the powerful, atmospheric sound that characterised their previous album Human and also break new ground on stage: As part of their Heart/Beats tour in March 2022, they will be performing electronically produced music live in analogue form and with a chamber music line-up. With cello and violin, bass clarinet and percussion, piano, synthesiser and polyphonic vocals, they open up an intimate, complex and always danceable world of sound that never loses its urgency.
