Liebe Freund*innen des silent green,
wir blicken zurück auf zehn Tage CTM Festival voller kleiner und großer audiovisueller Highlights, mit Live-Performances, Installationen und Konzerten, mit virtuellen Besuchen und echten Besucher*innen und trotz aller pandemisch notwenigen Maßnahmen dem leichten Gefühl eines wunderbar vibrierenden silent green. Nun geht es weiter mit einem Monat der bewegten Bilder, denn in der kommenden Woche beginnt auch schon die Berlinale. Die Gruppenausstellung "Closer to the Ground" des Forum Expanded, die bis zum 13.3. in unserer Betonhalle zu sehen sein wird, eröffnet bereits am Mittwochnachmittag (9.2.), allerdings der Situation geschuldet ohne Reden und Feierlichkeiten, sondern mit im gesamten Ausstellungszeitraum notwendigerweise vorab zu buchenden Zeitfenstern. Mit den Filmvorführungen von Forum und Forum Expanded in unserem Werkstattkino in der Kuppelhalle geht es ab Freitag los, Tickets dafür gibt es ab dem 7.2. über den Berlinale-Ticketshop. Gut zu wissen: Die gesamte Berlinale findet als 2G-Plus-Maske-Plus-Test-Veranstaltung statt und der Ticketverkauf erfolgt ausschließlich online. Sich näher am Boden bewegen, den Dingen auf den Grund gehen, genau hinschauen und -hören, wahrnehmen, was in nächster Nähe, oft unerkannt, passiert – in diesem Zeichen steht die 17. Ausgabe des Forum Expanded und die Auswahl von Filmen, Installationen und Performances, die in unserer Betonhalle im Rahmen der Berlinale präsentiert werden.

Filmscreenings
Die Sektionen Forum und Forum Expanded der Berlinale bespielen in diesem Jahr zum dritten Mal das temporäre Werkstattkino in unserer Kuppelhalle. In den Filmen der Sektionen zeichnen sich wiederkehrende Motive ab, so zum Beispiel der Versuch, den dem Kino eigenen Anthropozentrismus zu überwinden, die Suche nach adäquaten Formen des politischen Kinos in der Gegenwart oder die Pandemie, die zwar das gesellschaftliche Leben lähmt, nicht aber den Einfallsreichtum und die Lust an der künstlerischen Arbeit der internationalen Filmemacher*innen. Dear friends of silent green,
We look back on ten days of CTM Festival full of small and big audiovisual highlights, with live performances, installations and concerts, with virtual visits and real visitors and, despite all the pandemically necessary measures, the slight feeling of a wonderfully vibrating silent green. Now we continue with a month of moving images as Berlinale is just around the corner. The group exhibition "Closer to the Ground" by Forum Expanded, which will be on view in our Betonhalle until 13 March, opens on Wednesday afternoon (9.2.), but due to the situation without speeches and festivities, instead time slots that must be booked in advance throughout the whole exhibition period. The film screenings of Forum and Forum Expanded in our Werkstatt cinema in our Kuppelhalle will start on Friday (11.2.), tickets will be available in the Berlinale ticket shop from 7 February. Good to know: The Berlinale is taking place as a 2G-plus-mask-plus-test event and tickets are sold online exclusively. Find out more about the Berlinale's hygiene regulations here.

Getting to the bottom of things, looking and listening closely, recognizing what unfolds in close proximity—this is the task undertaken by the 17th edition of Forum Expanded and the selection of films, installations and performances that will be presented in our Betonhalle as part of the Berlinale.

Filmscreenings
This year, for the third time, Forum and Forum Expanded are taking place in the temporary Werkstattkino in our Kuppelhalle. Recurring motifs emerge in the films of the sections, for example the attempt to overcome the anthropocentrism inherent in cinema, the search for adequate forms of political cinema in the present, or the pandemic that paralyses social life but not the ingenuity and pleasure in the artistic work of filmmakers worldwide.
