Dear friends of silent green,
The next three picnic concerts on the lawn in front of silent green will take place as part of our Female To Empower series, which since 2019 has regularly been focusing on small and large narratives of music history from an explicitly female perspective.
Kicking things off on Thursday (24.6.) is artist, researcher and experimental instrumentalist Ale Hop, who mixes electronic music with fractured pop melodies, noise, field recordings and a complex repertoire of unorthodox instrumental techniques, synthesis and real-time sampling devices to create a performance of astonishing physical intensity and atmosphere.
On Friday (25.6.), musician, composer and sound artist Midori Hirano aka MimiCof follows with a live set combining experimental music with detailed rhythmic patterns and melodic soundscapes and harmonies.
That evening, after the concert, the documentary Raw Chicks.Berlin will be shown in the courtyard, portraying eleven international female artists and music producers living in Berlin. The focus is on live acts, respectively women who take their equipment to stage, presenting their own songs and compositions. The director provides an insight into Berlin's diverse and tremendously lively contemporary music scene and, through her presentation of the female musicians, creates a contemporary document that adds a female perspective to the often male-dominated historiography.
And on Saturday (26.6.), you can experience the duo Nguyễn + Transitory, whose work fuses sound, performance and installation and who attempt to approach sound, synthesis, noise, rhythm and performance from a postcolonial perspective.
Tickets for the three evenings -with or without a picnic package from MARS- are available here online until the respective concert starts.
We are looking forward to magical musical summer evenings with you!
