It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the loss of our dear friend Akiko Hada, who passed away peacefully after a serious illness.
Akiko was an extraordinary artist and a remarkable human being. Her work moved effortlessly between performance, video art, photography, and music. With great artistic freedom, she created works that were experimental, poetic, and unmistakably original, shaped by an offbeat sense of humor, radical openness, and profound sensitivity.
As an internationally active video artist, Akiko collaborated with many influential figures from the experimental music, performance, and contemporary art scenes. As a photographer, she also documented the international post-punk, underground, and industrial scenes of the late 1970s and early 1980s, leaving behind a unique visual archive of that era.
To us, Akiko was far more than an extraordinary artist and companion on our journey. She was a dear friend and a kindred spirit.
Sleep peacefully, dear Akiko. We will miss you dearly.
