Between Fences: Artist Talk with Avi Mograbi
Film Feld Forschung
Holot is a detention centre in the Israeli desert near the Egyptian border. It houses asylum-seekers from Eritrea and Sudan who can’t be sent back to their own countries, but who have no prospects in Israel either thanks to the country’s policies. Avi Mograbi and Chen Alon initiated a theatre workshop with these people in the most precarious of situations.
Avi Mograbi will present his film Bein Giderot (Between Fences, Israel/France 2016, 85') together with outtakes and a a clip he did with Noam Enbarand of the recording of the singing in the film.
Avi Mograbi is a filmmaker and video artist based in Tel Aviv. He began filmmaking in 1989 and has been teaching documentary and experimental film at Tel Aviv University and the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem since 1999. His documentary films have been programmed and won numerous awards at international festivals.
