Piano Conversations

Concert with Aki Takase, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Kait Dunton and Albrecht Gündel-vom Hofe

"Piano Conversations“ features two international piano duos: The exceptional German-Japanese avant-garde jazz duo Aki Takase (Osaka) and Alexander von Schlippenbach (Berlin) as well as the German-American duo Kait Dunton (L.A.) and Albrecht Gündel-vom Hofe (Berlin).

Aki Takase and Alexander von Schlippenbach have been performing together as a duo for several years and have won numerous international awards. Their program combines solo performances and four-handed piano arrangements, ranging from original compositions to improvised pieces and Jazz „classics“ by Duke Ellington, Thelonius Monk, Eric Dolphy and Herbie Nichols.

Kait Dunton and Albrecht Gündel-vom Hofe, who met in Berlin in 2012, have been deveploping a piano duo project ever since which almost exclusively features original compositions and arrangements. A first milestone of their creative cooperation is the album „Piano Conversations: About God And The World“, which will be released in early September 2016 and which will be presented at silent green on September 10.

Babette Hierholzer, German-American pianist, on Piano Conversations:
The compositions by Albrecht Gündel-vom Hofe and Kait Dunton on this new CD take the listener on a journey of "Piano Conversations - About God and the World" and the two performers leave us mesmerized. Beside the technical ease, with which they take us along for the ride, the recording has an almost tender melancholic approach, which is grounded in the fusion of classical piano playing and Jazz performance.
