Performance: GHOSTS OF MEANING
Ghosts of Meaning, a manifesto for a transorientalist
Aesthetics. With live sounds and dance, the Tunisian artist Mohamedali Ltaief provides food for thought and investigates stereotypes between Islamophobia and self-orientation. Where do the Arab queer people stand today in the midst of globalized markets and codified identities? Ghosts of Meaning recently premiered at the festival "The Present Is Not Enough" at HAU 2 - Hebbel am Ufer.
Concert: SAWT OUT
Mazen Kerbaj, the Lebanese artist, graphic artist and writer is one of the initiators and key figure of the experimental Beirut music scene. Sawt Out is a collaboration with percussionists Michael Vorfeld and Burkhard Beins, both protagonists of Berlin's Echtzeitmusik, who have played together in various formations over the past 15 years: for example as Trio Misiiki with Dirk Marwedel, as the cross-cultural ensemble Hanoi°Berlin, in Lotte Anker's Electric Habitat and most recently for her audiovisual performance Klirrfaktor. The concert takes place on the occasion of the release of their first album Sawt Out.

"Wish You Were Here!" AFAC Summer Festival in cooperation with FLAX' is part of a series of events initiated and supported by the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) in Europe. In Germany, AFAC has been bringing together artists and cultural workers from the Arab world with local partners and presenting artistic programmes since the end of 2016. In addition to cooperation with the Allianz Cultural Foundation, the Heinrich Böll Foundation, the House of World Cultures and the Berlinale, AFAC also co-organized the symposia "Imagining the Future", "Revisiting Archive in the Aftermath of Revolution" and "Writing (In) Exile". AFAC supported the staging of "Ur" by Kuwaiti author and director Sulayman Al Bassam at Munich's Residenztheater and Mohammed el-Attars "Iphigenie" at Berlin's Volksbühne.
