Joe Sacco: Paying the Land

Lesung I internationales literaturfestival berlin

The Dene, a First Nation community, have inhabited the Mackenzie River Valley for centuries. Oil, gas, and diamonds are stored in the ground. Joe Sacco observes how their way of life is threatened by the pressure to make economic progress and the desire to return to a traditional life close to nature. In his latest reportage comic, Sacco proves himself to be the »successor of R. Crumb and Art Spiegelman« [Economist].

The event will be held in English. It has been pre-recorded.
