Jerry Craft: New Kid / Class Act

Lesung I internationales literaturfestival berlin

»New Kid« was the first graphic novel to win the John Newbery Medal and the Kirkus Prize 2020 for the most outstanding contribution to children’s literature. It tells the story of a 12-year-old African-American boy who, at his mother’s request, transferred to a private school and experiences a culture shock. Craft presents the book together with its successor »Class Act« and talks about the ways in which literature can contribute to the fight against discrimination and racism.

The event will be held in English. It has been pre-recorded.
