Kinkcore offers a differentiated view on transgressive acts in high-octane and radical musical expression and distressed performance. Happening as part of this year’s 3hd 2021 “Power Play”, the concert features two live acts that confront and contradict notions of conformity and convention. The unorthodox performance space of the historic crematorium reflects the defiance of its temporary residents.
New York-based artist and performer CHRISTEENE dramatically merges sexual provocation with upbeat political and social messaging into a practice that has pushed against convention for decades. Scenes involving butt plugs tied to bouquets of balloons being released from the singer’s ass. Wardrobes styled from the forgotten scraps of society, and heated sermons on the current state of the world as we know it populate the raucous world of Paul Soileau's drag creation. Anger, rage and an energy of dominance in tracks like Kiss My Fuckin' Dick and Butt Muscle are a mix of punk, electronic and hip hop music, creating a manic combination of a physical practice with the tangible result of pleasure and pain.
These forms, aesthetics, and conscious shifts of meaning and negotiation also materialize in writer and musician Mikatsiu and drummer Sara Neidorf’s collaborative project Intrusions (nexus) Invitations. Creating a vortex of disturbances and intensity, the piece rotates at the center of a cavernous satellite. Reflecting the reception of sonoliquified intimacy and the tension of restrained listening, Mikatsiu’s cello leashes its overtones to the whispering blast of the drummed impulses initiated by Neidorf.
Kinkcore examines and expresses these BDSM lifeworlds through performance and music; a productive force to contribute to the visualization of contradictions in the heteronormal public sphere, and the relationship between power and powerlessness, play and danger, cello and drum, buttplug and balloon.

The artist has collaborated and toured across the US and worldwide with numerous acclaimed musicians, including Faith No More, Peaches, Fever Ray, John Grant, and Justin Vivian Bond. Longtime collaborators include award winning filmmaker PJ Raval, along with iconic fashion designer Rick Owens, and artist Michèle Lamy. CHRISTEENE has been photographed by Jurgen Teller, Katerina Jebb, Matt Lambert and Wolfgang Tilmanns and featured in magazines such as anOther, Noisey, Dazed, Art Forum, Spin, Numero, The New Yorker, Interview, Man About Town and more.
Mika Hayashi Ebbesen, aka Mikatsiu, is a queer Japanese-Norwegian artist, who identifies as a frequency witch and works in the independent art publishing sector. Previous experience as an exhibition mediator stimulated a strong interest in global history and decolonial strategies; this has in turn influenced their approach to editing and the interrelations of language. They co-curate From Breath To Matter, a Berlin-based performance series exploring the voice as a medium within the field of sound-dance, and investigate how the intersection of sound and the human body produces new social vocabularies—they also occasionally perform cello.
Sara Neidorf is a Philadelphia-born drummer and film curator. She plays in the bands Mellowdeath, Aptera, Sarattma, Choral Hearse, and Mad Kate | The Tide, and also teaches the drums to women and non-binary people. Neidorf has recorded and toured internationally as a session drummer with such acts as The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Valerie Renay, Godmother, City at Dark, and Tau. When not drumming, she co-directs and curates Final Girls Berlin Film Festival, which showcases horror films made by women and non-binary filmmakers, and previously organized the film series Queer Film Klub and Women on the Verge. Whether through music or film curation, she enjoys exploring tensions, crevices, the unsavory, and shedding light on things that are not so readily exposed.
Creamcake (CC) is a Berlin-based interdisciplinary platform, negotiating the point of convergence in electronic music, contemporary art and digital technologies. Distanced from normative social structures, Creamcake moves in fluid processes of thought and action and engages with current social issues of the present through diverse projects. CC organizes exhibitions performances, concerts, symposiums, DJ sets, digital projects, and workshops including 3hd Festival (since 2015), Paradise Found (2019), インフラ INFRA (2017), Europool (2017-2019) and <Interrupted = “Cyfem and Queer> (2018–2019). As a queer-feminist normadic space, CC has cooperated with a variety of clubs, community spaces and institutions such as Berghain, Klosterruine, OHM, Südblock, HAU Hebbel am Ufer, and KW Institute for Contemporary Art / Bob’s Pogo Bar, and WWWβ.
