The Third Life of Agnès Varda – Guided tours
Exhibition tours
Agnès Varda is considered one of the most influential creative personalities of our time - the photographer, filmmaker and visual artist, who died in 2019 at the age of ninety, left behind a life's work spanning more than six decades, in which the pioneer of modern film reinvented herself again and again. Her last creative period - her "third life as a young artist", as she herself called it - has so far been far less well known and explored than the numerous films she directed before.
At silent green, the most comprehensive solo exhibition in Germany to date of this last creative period, which Varda began at the age of 75 at the Venice Biennale, shows photographs, films and video formats that Varda assembles into cross-media installation forms.
Filmmaker, illustrator and photographer Nathalie David and the two curators Dominique Bluher and Julia Fabry will guide you through the exhibition and explain Varda's works in dialogue with the visitors.
Nathalie David is a filmmaker, illustrator and photographer. She sees the documentary gaze as a genre and as a specific art process. In 2009 she founded PITCHOUNPRODUCTION and has since created numerous films under this label. Since 2003, she has been commissioned by museums to make artistic rather than documentary films about artists or collectors. Since 2011 she has been giving guided tours in German and French at the Hamburger Kunsthalle. Nathalie David was born in France. She lives in Hamburg and Berlin.
NOTE: No separate exhibition ticket is required to take part in the guided tour. The ticket for the guided tour also entitles you to admission to the exhibition.
