Liraz – Sonic Morgue

Liraz is the project of the Israeli actress and musician Liraz Charhi. She became known to a wider audience through the spy series "Tehran". Her own family's roots are in Iran. Her parents, Sephardic Jews, fled to Israel as teenagers. With her musical project, Liraz explores the traditions of Iranian pop music. She sings in Farsi and musicians from Iran regularly collaborate in the production of her albums. Both sides are using the possibilities of digital data transfer to undermine the mortal enmity of both countries, thus creating a cultural bridge that is actually impossible. Her songs have become hits in both countries and are secretly heard by young people in Iran during celebrations. Especially as a fighter for women's rights, Liraz has become an important voice of solidarity in the current political situation.
