Torn Textures and Heavenly Choirs w/ Dirk Schaefer

Berlin based sound researcher Dirk Schaefer presents his experimental film soundtracks from three decades. He will be showing short films he has scored in collaboration with filmmaker Matthias Müller (distribution via Arsenal Distribution) and playing DJ sets featuring both his record Distant Proximity: Soundtracks for the Films of Matthias Müller, which has just been released on purge.xxx, and his soundtracks to the works of Austrian filmmaker Peter Tscherkassky. Schaefer weaves complex, almost three-dimensional sound collages from every conceivable noise, melody and tone into a kind of musique concrète that combines with the film material in organic dialogues.
