faust, Sunroof (Daniel Miller & Gareth Jones), Chandra Shukla – Sonic Morgue

A very special night in the Sonic Morgue series. There have already been a few incarnations of Faust with different members trying to manage the band's legacy. Now, original members Zappi Diermaier and Gunther Wüsthoff have taken a completely different path, forming a new line-up under the name faust (with a small f) that feels more committed to the original idea of an exploratory collective rather than in the administration of a history. "faust into the future!", so to speak. Fittingly, Sonja Kosche and Elke Drapatz are two women in the line-up for the first time. Together with Jochen Arbeit and Andrew Unruh from Einstürzende Neubauten, Schneider TM and Uwe Bastiansen, they have created a curious collective. The resulting record Daumenbruch has been released on the US label Erototox Decodings and will be available on vinyl for the first time at the concert. Label founder Chandra Shukla will open the evening musically. The second act also promises quality and experimentation. Mute label boss Daniel Miller has founded the project Sunroof with Depeche Mode (and many others) producer Gareth Jones, who composes exclusively with modular synthesizers. An evening in which the past is transferred into the future.
