7 pm: Ensemble Doppelmond
The aesthetics of the koto, the Japanese cittern, lie in its sound. The differentiated tone, the sound of plucking the strings, of the plectrum touching the strings, the microtones that cannot be represented in the equal temperament, the special care in the attention to the materials of the instrument – all this is refined into a beauty all its own. Ensemble Doppelmond has set itself the task of expanding the opportunities to experience traditional Japanese instruments in Europe. Koto player Mieko Miyazaki presents a range from traditional Japanese music to contemporary works and introduces the audience to the fascinating, multi-faceted sound world of the koto.
8 pm: Minru
Minru is the musical project of Caroline Blomqvist, a musician from Gothenburg based in Berlin. Her love for music began at a young age when she started playing the guitar. After touring across Europe as a guitarist with various bands, she started creating her own songs. Her debut album Liminality was released on Morr Music in 2022. The title describes the threshold state after breaking away from the prevailing order, i.e. the dissolution of the security and stability of the past. The combination of acoustic guitar, piano and strings creates an interwoven and sonorous sound that is an ode to the mystical folk music of her Swedish ancestors. Live, Minru performs with Marlene Becher (piano and bass) and Jean-Louise Parker (viola).
