Marguerite Abouet: Akissi–Auf die Katzen, fertig los! & Akissi–Die Königin der Nervensägen

Discussion, Reading, Picture Book Cinema, Q&A
Akissi, a daring and cheerful whirlwind, lives in the Ivorian city of Abidjan. With her head full of ideas, one adventure follows the other. For instance, once, Akissi’s monkey Boubou almost ends up in the cooking pot – another time she is chased by cats. The comic, set in a realistic city environment, tells of hilarious situations in a child’s every day life. At the same time, social problems are not ignored, and universal parent-child- and sibling relationships are depicted with a loving, mischievous wink.

The event will be held in German and French language.
Hosted by Philip Geisler.
Read by Kathleen Gallego Zapata.
