Tempus A/V live set
Tense (meaning “the tense of a verb group is the form that usually indicates whether one is referring to the past, the present or the future”) considers the connection between past, present and future and is, explains Betke, “. ...a natural development from the last album. One that goes further and is even more complex." It is a natural subject for Betke because all of Pole's work has a connection between past, present and future. His catalog glides across ambient, dub, jazz, glitch and electronica and is clearly unique on each album.
The presence of dub in Betke's idiosyncratic framework of electronic music is a constant, but on Tempus the dub takes on an additional role. The Dub effects devices delay the sound and keep it a step behind the present before it disappears again into a foggy reverberation. The pace, sound and echo of the dub effects traverse the essence of past, present and future in the album. It is also one of the most jazz-oriented records of Bekta's career, but given his penchant for doing things original, it is a deconstructed, mutated and manipulated form of jazz.
Rainer Kohlberger is an Austrian-born independent visual artist and filmmaker living in Berlin. His work is primarily based on algorithmic compositions with a reductionist aesthetic influenced by flatness, drones, and interference. In his works there is always a layer of noise, which fascinates him as a sense of infinity, which is both the definitive and inveterately diffuse abstraction. The highest forms of intensity come into play in his films, installations and live performances.
Masha Dusapin (aka Maria Panova) makes experimental electronic music using field recordings, spoken word and modular synths.
