What Role Does Contemporary Art Play in Times of Climate Crisis? The documentary KLIMA, KRISE, KUNST by Mathias Frick explores this question. Journalist Leonie Sontheimer takes the audience on a journey to meet influential artists such as Olafur Eliasson, Agnes Denes, and Tomás Saraceno.

The film not only examines the art itself but also scrutinizes its creators and the structures within the art world. How do artists address their own carbon footprint? How sustainable is a global art industry that relies on transportation, travel, and prestigious events? Are art fairs like Art Basel or the Venice Biennale setting an example, or do they contradict the messages of their participating artists?

Following the screening: A conversation in English with Leonie Sontheimer, Olafur Eliasson, and Johan Rockström (Director Potsdam-Institut für Klimafolgenforschung).
