Bookrelease: Bildfäden – A reading with Olga Hohmann, Gerhard Poppenberg & Kevin Kemter
The anthology Image Threads. Small Forms brings together texts that take their point of departure from images—a city map, an advertisement photo, a QR code, a drawing, or a film still, for example. A patient’s drawing from a psychiatric clinic is considered just as worthy of reflection as a screenshot from a video game or a Renaissance still life. Each text traces image threads through the densely woven, often confusing fabric of the interaction between visual worlds and lived reality.
The horizons are as diverse as the respective image techniques and subjects. Strictly analytical approaches, biographical narratives, associative texts, poetic condensations, and hybrid forms are all attempts to develop formats suited to their objects.
On September 14, Olga Hohmann, Kevin Kemter, and Gerhard Poppenberg will read from their texts. Olga Hohmann follows the threads she discovers in a photograph of a gift basket by Gernot Seliger. Kevin Kemter takes us on a Ringbahn journey, beginning with a photograph of an S-Bahn interior.
Gerhard Poppenberg probes a seemingly unmistakably worldly still life by Cotán for its metaphysical content.
