Book launch with Anne Rabe

In her new book Das M-Wort Anne Rabe explores the topic of morality – a subject that couldn’t be more relevant in times of rising far-right extremism. She’s coming to silent green for the book launch – and the evening will be hosted by none other than Yasmine M’Barek!

At a time when the word “morality” seems to have become a dirty word in public discourse, Anne Rabe poses a crucial question: Can we afford a world without the »M-Word», without morality? Drawing on concrete examples – from how we deal with poverty, migration and climate policy to increasing radicalization – she offers a personal and urgent reflection on the dangerous consequences of the growing contempt for morality in Germany.

In January 2025, Germany experiences a political taboo-breaker: for the first time since the founding of the Federal Republic, far-right extremists secure a decisive majority in a Bundestag vote. This marks only the most visible peak of a long-standing shift in political discourse. The major turning points of the 21st century have put democracies under pressure worldwide. Autocracy and imperialism are once again on the rise, while moral reasoning is no longer a top priority. The seductive pull of this development is evident wherever even democrats begin to give in. With great clarity, Anne Rabe explains how morality is being gradually pushed out of socio-political debates, why this is so dangerous – and how moral thinking and action can, in fact, be part of the solutions to the most pressing problems of our time. A brilliant and timely analysis that offers hope in an increasingly bleak global landscape.
