Guests: CINEMA IS MADE BY OTHERS – Why German Films Party on Their Own

Conference

For the first time, the German Film Critics‘ Association and the Heinrich Boell Foundation will hold a conference together. On the eve of the most important event for the German film industry, the event titled “Cinema is Made by Others – Why German Films Party on Their Own” will focus on the state of German film culture. International guests will debate why German films are not enjoying much success in the major film festivals, a trend that culminated in a complete absence of German films from the main competitions in Cannes, Venice and Locarno in 2015.

Charles Tesson, director of the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes, will shed light on this problem from the perspective of an important film festival. Symptoms, causes and possible solutions will be debated by international guests, such as Richard Brody (The New Yorker), Sergio Fant (member of the selection committee of the Locarno International Film Festival) and Lars Henrik Gass (Director of the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen).

Conference language is English. Free admission based on a limited number of seats. We kindly ask for your registration by eMail.
