Molly Lewis + The Zenmenn

silent green presents

With her debut album On the Lips, electrifying piper Molly Lewis harks back to the sound of Café Molly and creates a dreamy and seductive homage to classic mood music. Images of classic Hollywood jazz clubs, Italian cinema soundtracks and intimate, loving embraces are brought to life. It seems to occupy a place in the storied Los Angeles lounge scene.

This associative album was recorded with producer Thomas Brenneck of the Menahan Street Band. During the recording process, numerous acclaimed musicians* ended up on the album due to the open door policy in the studio. These included Nick Hakim, the Latin Grammy nominated Brazilian guitarist Rogê, Leland Whitty and Chester Hansen from the Canadian instrumental group Badbadnotgood.

The Zenmenn paint with a palette of many colours taking influence from music from all over the world. On a never ending quest for a taste of the divine, The Zenmenn plunge themselves into a mystical world of shimmering harps and languid guitars, at once heavenly and at the same time sub aquatic, sending melodic flourishes bubbling up to the sun kissed surface. The trio construct a sound world of vibrant originality: an ethereal music that flirts momentarily with the furthest reaches of aesthetic vogue, only to then cut a bold new path into the future.
