1979 / 23.35 mins / U.S. / OV / Beth B / Scott B
Terrifying allegory of societal repression as we follow the plight of an innocent youth abducted and tortured without any culpability.
Lydia Lunch – The War is Never Over
2020 / 75 mins / U.S. / OV / Beth B
The first career-spanning documentary retrospective of Lydia Lunch’s confrontational, acerbic and always electric artistry. Lunch has forged a lifetime of music and spoken word performance devoted to the utter right of any woman to indulge, to seek pleasure, and to say “fuck you!” as loud as any man. In this time of endless attacks on women, of ceaseless war, this is a rallying cry to acknowledge the only thing that is going to bring us together – ART ... as the universal salve to all our traumas.
Dust and Shadows
Spoken Word Performance by Lydia Lunch
This epic performance deals with dark sexual obsessions, devious romance, and the premature death of loved ones. Lunch showcases the many voices she inhabits as oracle to our deepest emotions, while encouraging the cultivation of feminine power to overcome these strenuous emotional roadblocks.
What would you say to somebody who only has 30 days to live? That in this land of illusions we are transitional creatures, peeping toms at the keyhole of all eternity, that the past is just the present cloaked by invisibility and the future is a murmur of a memory we will never possess. The great mystery is not that we were thrown down between the profusion of matter and that of the stars but from our fleshy prison we have created images powerful enough to deny our nothingness. Hoping that one day over the distant horizon lies an incredible lightness of being where everything falls away. We’re just dust and shadow. Death is just the shadow that follows the body.
