CTM 2025: Adela Mede + Marta Forsberg + Nindya Nareswari + Heinali & Andriana-Yaroslava Saienko

Returning to silent green in 2025 for their 26th edition, CTM Festival brings a host of adventurous and transgressive concerts once more. Concerts, performances and multisensory experiences from avant-garde music ensemble 33, Heinali and Andriana-Yaroslava Saienko’s reimagining of Hildegard von Bingen, the genre-defying These New Puritans returning with their first LP since 2019, the Egyptian composer Yara Mekawei and Spooky-J – the British electronic architect behind Nihiloxica’s rhythmic force—bringing the raw intensity of traditional Bugandan percussion with the throbbing pulse of underground techno.

6pm: Adela Mede with Marta Forsberg & Nindya Nareswari

The SHAPE+ supported Slovak-Hungarian artist Adela Mede met Marta Forsberg through a shared interest in collective singing, either with acoustic voice or computer generated choirs. For CTM they come together with visual artist Nindya Nareswari to explore these topics through a special new performance of Mede’s original compositions. Mede’s blend of traditional folk influences and contemporary electronic textures weave English, Slovak, and Hungarian into her music. Each language carries fragments of memory and emotion that shift with the sound of her voice, creating a deeply personal yet universal experience. Her songs will be enhanced by Forsberg's experience in sonic minimalism and immersive environments, and Nareswari’s work with the ephemeral and emotive qualities of light and perception.

7pm: Heinali & Andriana-Yaroslava Saienko Гільдеґарда

In this German premiere together with Ukrainian singer Andriana-Yaroslava Saienko, the composer Heinali reimagines Hildegard von Bingen's compositions with authentic Ukrainian folk singing techniques and generative monophony and polyphony techniques on modular synthesizer, highlighting the visceral quality of von Bingen's writing, which is often missing in traditional Early Music interpretations. This requires the singer to put in a raw, almost inhumane transcendent effort. Through Гільдеґарда (Hildegarda), Heinali and Andriana-Yaroslava Saienko place Ukrainian traditional culture in a broader European context, actualising Hildegard's material to express their war-related experiences and a different, and challenging understanding of spirituality that arises from these.

Festival passes are on sale now, along with further program details. More acts, and event details and tickets will be released as of December.

For 25 years, CTM has been highlighting new strains of underground club culture and art that ventures through the weird, the challenging, the cathartic, the esoteric, the contagious, and the ecstatic – simultaneously exploring sonic histories, contexts, and political and technological entanglements.
