Transgressive Memory Festival

Our memory culture is in motion. What happens when we leave behind conventional forms of commemoration? When digital media doesn’t just store stories, but reassembles, questions, and disrupts them?

On September 12–13, Körber-Stiftung invites you to Transgressive Memory Festival at silent green Kulturquartier. Across two days, media art, performances, sound, and critical discourse converge in a multi-layered programme featuring live performances, panels, workshops, film screenings, and an exhibition.

The festival proposes "Transgressive Memory" as both method and principle: a practice of remembrance that breaks up rigid rituals, blurs the lines between documentary and fiction, and interrogates the role of digital technologies in our collective consciousness. Artists and cultural practitioners deploy digital infrastructures and visual realms, glitches, loops, speculative archives, and networks, as artistic tools to challenge linear narratives and create space for contradiction and polyphonic histories. At the festival, the act of remembrance turns into a dynamic process unfolding between bodies and databases, absence(s) and algorithms.

The schedule is complemented by programme parts curated by CTM Festival ("Resynthesising the Traditional") and transmediale.

With art works, performances and talks by: Bashir Bashir, caner teker, Gabriel Massan, Göksu Kunak, allapopp (Tatar: Kyzlar), Dan Hicks, Giselle Beiguelman, Hussein Shikha, Royce Ng and many more.
