Stoffwechsel

Archive außer sich presents: Stoffwechsel
30 May to 30 June 2019 at Kino Arsenal and silent green.

As a partner of the Arsenal project Archive außer sich, Film Feld Forschung opens a year-long series of events, workshops and exhibitions under the title Stoffwechsel that explore the materiality of film and the earth as archive.

Film is a medium of memory, but what does its memory consist of and how is it formed? How does film relate to its carrier material and to the materiality of what is depicted? What is the physical relationship of the body and landscape to the image and thus to the viewer and his/her environment? The various relations, materials and temporalities in the earth and with the earth, as they underlie the principles of permaculture, for example, are taken into account. How can the tension between plundering and repair be rethought for the perspectives of the moving image, cinema and the understanding of archives?

In addition to a permaculture workshop and a workshop on ecologically sustainable film development at silent green, two film series from 3 to 30 June at Arsenal are dedicated to the extensive oeuvre of Arthur and Corinne Cantrill and the work of the Japanese director Shinsuke Ogawa and his collective "Ogawa Pro".

The Stoffwechsel programme begins on 30 May with an installation of filmic works by Arthur and Corinne Cantrill, Kerstin Schroedinger and Mareike Bernien at silent green's Betonhalle.
